TITLE: Manure

OBJECT: Garbage bag (full and closed)

DOCTRINE: Sanctification

STORY WITH THE OBJECT

The father of a friend of mine had some land. He had planted many young trees and my friend’s job was to transport several 20kg sacks to each of these trees. The land was rocky, uneven, and full of thistles. As he lifted a sack over his shoulder, a strong odor reached him and he realized what was in the sacks, manure! He spent several hours carrying and spreading the manure in those sacks.  The poor man!

TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL

Believe it or not, something similar happens in our lives.

THE PROBLEM (LAW)

During our lives, we are constantly filling the sacks of our lives with foul-smelling things like selfishness, pride, lust, hatred, bitterness, envy, and gossip. Day after day our sacks of manure weigh more and more, and we have to carry them throughout our lives.

THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)

At the end of our lives, we will have to present ourselves before our Creator and Judge. Do you think he will let you into his house stinking so badly and carrying that enormous sack of manure? Only totally pure and clean people can enter heaven.  People dirtied by sin will go to a place of filth and suffering, hell.

THE SOLUTION (CROSS)

Is there a way to clean yourself up before you present yourself to God so you can enter his house? There is only one way. His name is Jesus, the only one who is clean, pure, without sin or stain. He took your sacks of sin, died on the cross in your place and rose again, demonstrating his authority to cleanse you of every stain of sin and present you clean before God

THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)

You must come to Jesus, give him your entire sack of sin, and ask him to cleanse you from every stain. And he will do that! There is nothing greater than knowing that your sins have been washed away and that you can stand before God clean and forgiven. Come to Jesus today!
