STORY WITH THE OBJECT
Today it is almost impossible to buy a house without a mortgage, and that is an enormous debt that takes a lifetime to pay off. And if we don’t pay, they take our house away, and we are still left with the debt.
TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL
In the same way, we are accumulating an even greater debt with our actions. It is a debt we cannot pay, a debt with God.
THE PROBLEM (LAW)
God has given us a law to live by, but every time we break his law, there is a fine to pay. Every lie we tell throughout our lifetime adds another fine. Every lustful or hateful thought adds another fine. Every immoral sexual act adds another fine. Imagine how many fines you have accumulated in your lifetime! So many fines add up to an enormous debt with God.
THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)
When we stand before God, he will look at our debt and sentence us to pay for it in an eternal place of suffering far from him.
THE SOLUTION (CROSS)
Because God is just, the debt must be paid. There are only two options: either we pay our own debt in hell, or someone innocent pays our debt for us. Because God loves us, he sent his son, Jesus, to pay our debt through his death on the cross. His resurrection is evidence that your debt with God has been settled.
THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)
For your debt to also be forgiven, do what I did. Turn from your sin and ask God for forgiveness for everything you have done against him. Then give your life to the one who gave His life for you, to Jesus. Imagine how wonderful it would be if your debt with the bank could be completely forgiven! The greatest debt you owe can be. Don’t wait any longer, call on Jesus today.
