TITLE: Quiz

OBJECT: Report Card

DOCTRINE: Substitution

STORY WITH THE OBJECT

When I was in school, I had a problem with my grades and barely passed.  My first year of high school I failed every subject except Physical Education and had to repeat that grade.

TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL

I am telling you about this because it reminds me of our lives.  What grades are you getting in the different subjects of life?

THE PROBLEM (LAW)

How in about the subject of lying, what grade would you receive? Have you ever lied? If you have, you fail the subject.  How about adultery, what grade would you get in that subject? How many times have you had sex outside of marriage? Another failed subject. Or what about the subject of honoring your parents? Do you disobey them? How about the subject of loving God above everything else? Is He really the most important thing in your life? If not, you have failed this subject, as well.

THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)

On the day of your final exam, when you die and stand before the great examiner, God, if you have failed any of the subjects, you will not be allowed into heaven.  You will not be allowed to be with your Creator, and you will be expelled from heaven.

THE SOLUTION (CROSS)

But I have good news! Someone with the best grades in the world, Jesus Christ, died on a cross in your place so that you and I could pass the course of life with His grades.  He offers us His perfect grades in exchange for our failings.

THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)

To make this exchange, you need to ask Jesus to forgive you, cleanse you and then give Him control of your life. Then all of your failings will be erased and you will receive Jesus’ perfect grades to obtain the prize of eternal life.
