STORY WITH THE OBJECT
During the summers when I was a child I used to visit my grandmother in her village, and she had many chickens. In the patio there was a huge hole in the ground, and since the chickens are kind of stupid, one of the chicks fell into the hole. Since I was the smallest and the only one who could fit it that hole full of excrement, my grandmother asked me to rescue it. She tied a rope around my waist and lowered me into the hole to rescue the poor chick. It was difficult because the chick did not want to be caught and the odor was nauseating. I ended up covered in excrement, but in the end I rescued it.
TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL
This chick is like us, kind of stupid, stuck in a hole, full of excrement, and not wanting to be rescued.
THE PROBLEM (LAW)
How did we get into our hole full of excrement? By choosing each day to be involved with envy, jealousy, arguments, blasphemy, idolatry, witchcraft, rage, hatred... we participate in every type of evil and for that reason are covered in excrement and garbage.
THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)
The bad news is that the day we die, in this condition, we will not be able to spend eternity with the One who gave us life, with God, and we will be cast aside into a place of torment that our rebellion deserves, in hell.
THE SOLUTION (CROSS)
But the good news is that just like I rescued the chick by going down into the hole filled with excrement, someone came to this sinful earth to rescue us. He walked among us, but never participated in any of the evil things we have done. He allowed himself to be killed on a cross to pay the price for our rescue, and then rose again with authority to forgive. Jesus Christ loves us so much that he gave himself that we might have life.
THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)
In order for us to be cleansed of our sin and have the door opened to us to heaven, we must go to Jesus. God commands us to repent and surrender our lives to him.
