TITLE: The saxophone

OBJECT: A saxophone or other instrument

DOCTRINE: Redemption

STORY WITH THE OBJECT

A man’s valuable saxophone was stolen. He decided to look for it in the flea market, and what a coincidence! There it was for sale! He asked the vendor how much he was asking for it, and in spite of its high price, and the fact that it belonged to him already, he decided to buy it back.

TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL

This is my story and it could be yours, too. There is someone who created us and placed us on this earth, God. But you and I have walked away from him and no longer belong to him.

THE PROBLEM (LAW)

It is because of our sin, for the lawless life we have lived that has caused us to fall into other hands, into the hands of the devil. We do what the devil does. We are thieves, liars, murderers, fornicators, and much more. We have broken all of God’s commandments.

THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)

In the end, we will have to pay for all of our actions by spending eternity far from our Creator in a place of suffering called hell.

THE SOLUTION (CROSS)

In the same way that the owner bought back his own instrument, God wants to redeem you. Through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, God paid the price for your sin to give you the opportunity to be forgiven and belong to him again.

THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)

But in order for that to happen, you must repent of all your sin, call on him for forgiveness, and choose to follow the one who paid for you with his life, Jesus.
