TITLE: VIP Lounge
OBJECT: Sign that says: VIP Lounge
STORY WITH THE OBJECT
A friend of mine was a professional basketball player and one day invited me to watch his game. His wife was accompanying me to the place where we would see the game, and she entered the door to the VIP Lounge. I thought, “This is great! We will have good food and comfortable seats!” But when I was about to enter the VIP Lounge, a security guard stopped me with his hand and said that I didn’t have the right to enter.
TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL
One day all of us will stand before the door to a great VIP Lounge - heaven - and we will all want to get in.
THE PROBLEM (LAW)
In front of the door to heaven, there will be 10 security guards controlling the entrance. You will try to enter and the first guard will ask you, “Have you lied?” If you have, you don’t have the right to enter. You try again and another guard asks you, “Have you hated anyone?” If you have, you don’t have the right to go through the door. Another asks you, “Have you committed sexual immorality?” If you have, then you have no right to enter heaven.
THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)
Your sin excludes you from heaven, and there is only one other destination, a place far from God and everything good, a place called hell. Jesus warned us many times about that place because he does not want us to go there.
THE SOLUTION (CROSS)
That’s why Jesus came to this world and gave himself voluntarily to take your place on the cross and pay the price for all of your sin and mine. God is holy and that’s why sin cannot enter his house. But he is also merciful, and that’s why Jesus died for you and rose again so you can enter heaven.
THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)
When I wanted to enter the VIP Lounge, my friend’s wife came out and told the security guard, “He’s with me” and so I was able to enter the VIP Lounge. If you are willing to repent from your sin, leave it behind, and follow Jesus, then the day you stand before the door of heaven, he will come out and tell the security guards, “He’s with me” or “She’s with me”, and you will enter heaven with Jesus.
