TITLE: Wrinkles of the Soul
OBJECT: An iron
STORY WITH THE OBJECT
My brother and I were going to a very expensive restaurant, and their requirements were that the men had to wear a well-ironed shirt and a tie. If not, they were not allowed into the restaurant.
TRANSITION TO THE SPIRITUAL
This makes me think about our lives. The day we die, we will all want to enter a place where we cannot enter with wrinkles or stains. This place is God’s house.
THE PROBLEM (LAW)
God has given us some requirements, but we don’t follow them. We have filled our lives with wrinkles, wrinkles in our soul. Every time we disobey our parents, we add a wrinkle to our soul; every time we fail to seek or please God, we add more wrinkles to our soul; whenever our desires are set on ourselves and we become our own god, that is how we add wrinkles to our soul.
THE CONSEQUENCES (ETERNITY)
When we stand before God on the day of our final judgement and our soul is full of wrinkles, we will not be allowed to enter that perfect place of heaven. There will be no other option than to throw us out to a place of darkness, where there is gnashing of teeth forever.
THE SOLUTION (CROSS)
But there is still time to iron your soul! There is only one way to do it, with a heavenly iron. Only one person is able to iron your soul, and His name is Jesus Christ. He came, died on a cross, and spilled out His life so that you and I could be made perfect, irreproachable, and without wrinkles in our soul.
THE CALL (REPENTANCE AND FAITH)
But in order for this to happen, you need to talk to Jesus; ask Him for forgiveness; leave behind everything you know is wicked; and desperately ask Him to cleanse you, to iron your soul, so His will would be done in your life. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ today.
